HOW TO GET TO TAMARINDO

There are a few different ways to get to Tamarindo, one of them is on a public bus, depending on the location, and you can get buses every hour, and sometimes have to wait a little more. You also have an option easier and faster with a higher cost, which is the shuttle, as well as also for privacy, you can hire a private transport.

Private Transfers

From Tamarindo to Anywhere

As you can hire a shuttle to get to Tamarindo, also can hire one to go from Tamarindo to the different places in Costa Rica, on the day and time that you want, to book the service, you must reserve in advance (24 hours before) at the reception of Tamarindo Hostel Resort.

Public buses

One of the most economical ways to travel in Costa Rica, is in the public bus. Because of the transport system in our country, sometimes you have to make a transfer bus, and another occasions, just enough to take a direct bus to get where you want.

San Jose to Tamarindo

To get from San Jose to Tamarindo, you can take a direct bus 350 m. north of San Juan de Dios Hospital, between 14th and 16th Street, Avenue 5, in the Alfaro Company bus Station, the ticket offices opens Monday to Saturday from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm

The bus schedules from San Jose to Tamarindo, (Liberia way) is at 11:30 am, and from San Jose to Tamarindo (Caldera way) is at 3:30 pm, the bus takes about 6 hours to arrive in Tamarindo downtown; the cost of the ticket is approx. $ 11.

Santa Cruz to Tamarindo

This route has a large number of buses ranging from Liberia to Tamarindo; buses depart every half hour between 3:50 am to 6:10 am, and from 6:10 am to 6:00 pm, the buses depart every hour. To take a bus you must go to the Municipal Bus Station in Liberia, there you have to buy the ticket that costs about $ 3, the company that manage that route is Transportes La Pampa.

Shuttles

Shuttle service is a shared transportation option between two places. The companies we offer have routes to different destinations every day of the year. The fleet vehicles used, are usually a minivan or a Coaster, depending of the people that are traveling. They are subject to availability and must be booked in advance.
